Short Stories : One Night Only |
When Andi rang the doorbell the next morning, Simon first panicked. But he quickly calmed down when he saw Mel's smile. Even though she slept, she smiled. Simon got up carefully and quietly and opened the door. "Hi Andi! Back again?" he asked with a laugh. "I brought something too." Andi defended himself and held a basket full of goodies in front of Simon's nose. "Have you already had breakfast?" he asked appropriately. "Not yet. Come in!" replied Simon and waved his hand invitingly. Andi added that he hoped Mel was still there and held up a bottle of champagne to go with it. "You are impossible to be a miller!" commented Simon and followed his buddy into the kitchen. There the two began to make one of the greatest breakfasts of all time. The noise in the kitchen woke Mel. She got up, put on her jeans and Simon's T-shirt. She couldn't find her own. "Morning guys." She greeted the two boys when they arrived in the kitchen. "No wonder you don't have any girlfriends." She complained shortly afterwards, asleep. Simon and Andi exchanged a look and then Andi replied "What is that supposed to mean?" Mel grinned like an angel and began to skimp on a carrot. She replied between bites. "Well, if you wake up every girl like that ... forcibly ..." "You're the heroine!" Andi laughed and turned around again. That's why he missed the amorous look that Simon gave Mel. Mel looked down, blushing. She, too, had experienced the previous night fully and completely conscious, but she had to think about her friend Jan, Simon's brother, again. "I like it that way, Mel." Andi suddenly started again. "Stand there and nibble the carrot and let the others do the work!" Mel then laughed so heartily that it tore Simon's heart. It really had gotten to him for good. Mel smiled once more full of charisma, then turned on his heel and set the table. "Tell me ..." Andi whispered to Simon in the kitchen."Isn't that your T-shirt that Mel is wearing?" Simon's heart almost stopped when he heard these words. He turned away so Andi didn't see that he was blushing and then replied: "No, this is from Jan." But Andi did not give up. "And Mel had to sleep on the couch?" he kept digging. "Well, she wanted to sleep on the couch." Replied Simon. Andi still had doubts and therefore hoped for his CD, which he had lent Simon. He asked him how his CD was doing and Simon replied that the CD was up and Andi could get it. Andi was just waiting for that! He quickly gave Mel dishes and then went upstairs to Simon's room. As he expected, if not hoped, he found his friend's room just like the night before: the same linen, the bed untouched ... Andi took his time with his return, he had to think a little bit first. When he finally got back downstairs, he immediately grabbed Simon and pushed him up the stairs in front of him. He had said to Mel that they would be back in a minute. Andi pushed Simon into the guest room, carefully closed the door and then turned to Simon. "So Mel slept on the couch, right?" he began his interrogation. Simon just nodded. "You too, am I right?" Andi continued. Simon asked him how he would come up with it, but Andi could tell from his red cheeks and his nervousness that he was right. At first he gave Simon a disdainful look, but then he realized that Simon had really fallen in love and that's why he fell silent. He had known for a long time that Simon was jealous of Jan because the two brothers looked super alike and Jan was still more popular with the girls. And because Simon was older, but Jan played a team above him in handball and because Jan studied and Simon was only an employee. But now it seemed to be getting really complicated. "So you both have ...?" Andi started, but he broke off and looked even more shocked than before. Only then did he notice that the T-shirt Mel was wearing that morning could still be seen under Simon's shirt the day before. "Simon, please tell me that Mel is 100% not wearing your shirt." Andi pleaded with his buddy. This turned to the window and then whispered: "Yes." That was too much for Andi. Jan was his best friend and was in a relationship with Mel and no sooner had he been away for a week than Simon threw himself at Mel! Andi ran around excitedly in the room, yelling, shaking Simon back and forth and reproaching him until he realized he was crying ... "Okay, take it easy now. What happened?" asked Andi and sat down on the couch. Simon sat down on the bed across from him and began to tell. From the first day he saw Mel to the last night and her "slip". Simon didn't know why she had done it or what had happened to him. Usually he never had sex with his brother's girlfriends. Andi slowly understood how in love Simon was with this girl. Unfortunately, he also knew how in love Jan was with exactly the same girl. "I know how much they love each other, but I can't just ... switch off my feelings!" Simon defended himself sobbing. "I know that! That's it!" Andi wailed. He hesitated a moment, then let Simon in on Jan's secret. "You know, I'm not really allowed to say anything, but ... Two years are damn long for Jan and that's why ... He wanted to give Mel a very special present for yesterday's anniversary ..." when Simon heard about the anniversary, it worked worse for him, of course. Andi continued: "He wants to propose to her." He whispered with a guilty conscience. Simon went white as a sheet. He knew that his brother was more of the daredevil of the family and that's why he knew how much Mel had to mean to him if he wanted to commit himself forever. Apparently Jan felt more for Mel than Simon had thought. Andi unnecessarily added how Jan's eyes would have lit up when he told his buddy about it. Simon felt bad enough as it was. Andi wanted to say something comforting to Simon, but he didn't get around because Mel was standing in the doorway and crying softly. Andi got up and took her in his arms. Simon preferred to leave the room. The last he heard from Mel was. "I love Jan more than I ever thought I could love a man. Yesterday was the biggest mistake of my life!"
When Jan came home in the afternoon of the same day, he found Mel and Andi at their home. The two finally laughed again after three hours of sitcoms. Mel greeted her boyfriend with a passionate kiss and then the three of them celebrated the biggest breakfast and the most beautiful engagement ever ...
