Short Stories : Burning Tears (Chapter 2) |
Part 2
Sue looked thoughtfully at John. Could she trust him?
His face was impenetrable and revealed nothing about his nature. Sue tried to guess his age, but that was made difficult by the lines life had carved in his face. He brushed a strand of hair from her face.
"Come on, I'll take you upstairs to your room. You look completely exhausted and you should rest." John got up and helped Sue up. He went towards the door and Sue followed him. They walked down the dark hallway and passed several large doors. This house had to be very big. Suddenly one of these doors opened and Paul stepped out. He looked at John and Sue and made her feel queasy. "It's all ok. I'll take you to your room." John moved closer to Paul and whispered something to him. It was too quiet for Sue to understand. Paul nodded silently and wished her a good night.
They now climbed a wide staircase and John led them to the end of the corridor. "Here is your room." He pushed open the door and gently pushed Sue inside. The room was dark blue. At the head of the room was a wide bed with huge pillows that seemed so soft that you would have liked to lie down in it. A fire burned in the fireplace, which spread a cozy warmth and some candles made the room look very mysterious. John pointed to a second door in the room. "There is the bathroom. You want to freshen up a bit. You will find everything you need." He winked at Sue and then left the room without a word. Sue was now all alone in this room and was just as smart as before. But she was just too tired and broken to worry about her situation now. Somehow she didn't care about anything at the moment. She went to the window and stared out into the darkness. The moon was high in the sky, spreading its pale blue light over the land. Before her lay the endless expanses of Finnish nature.
Sue felt drained and dirty. "It can't hurt if I take a look into the bathroom," she thought to herself and sneaked a look through the other door. The bathroom was green and a pleasant bubble bath steamed in the tub. "But how did you know ..." Sue shrugged and took off her clothes. She just wanted to enjoy the nice warm water and let her things fall carelessly on the floor and slipped into the warm water. Slowly the pain in her bones subsided and she relaxed. Gentle mists of calm lulled Sue and carried her off into another world. She slid deeper into the water and inhaled the bewitching scent of herbs.
Next door, the door to her room opened quietly and the silhouette of a dark figure appeared in the door frame. This person snuck in quietly. Sue didn't notice any of this. She was still enjoying the warm water on her skin. The figure wandered through her room. She quietly put a tray on the table next to the fireplace and went over to the bed to put something down there too. His eyes wandered around the room and he grinned contentedly. Yes, everything went as planned so far. And he would do everything to keep it that way. She should be happy here, just as happy as they were all here. Sue suddenly heard a noise in the next room and started up. Her fingers felt for the towel. She quickly wrapped herself in it and tiptoed to the door. She left damp footprints on the floor and the water pearled on her forehead. Sue carefully reached for the doorknob. She paused for a moment. What would she expect again now? Sue tore open the door and peered into the main room. Her gaze wandered around, but she was alone. She breathed a sigh of relief, only to jump in the next moment as if she had seen a ghost. Outside, the chime of a clock rang to announce midnight. "I am totally exhausted!" Sue said to herself and shook her head. The scent of hot tea rose to her nose and she turned her head to the table. There was a mug and a couple of sandwiches in front of her. So someone had been here after all and she wasn't crazy yet. Since her last meal was several hours ago, Sue pounced on it hungrily. Then she felt a lot better and just wanted to sleep. To escape these eerie events.
A beautiful black silk nightgown lay on her bed. The delicate fabric caressed her skin and caressed her slim body. Satisfied, Sue climbed into bed and soon fell into a quiet and deep sleep.
Meanwhile, John was talking to Georg downstairs. He was still very angry and deeply hurt in his honor. "Did you see how beautiful she is?" Georg rolled his eyes in delight. "It hit me as soon as she entered the pub. It struck my heart like thunder." John watched his friend closely. "I know, Georg." John looked down and stared at the floor. "You're right. But despite everything, you have to give them up and get them out of your head." He patted Georg on the shoulder in a friendly manner. "Come on, let's have a drink and smoke one. Then the world will look completely different." Georg mumbled something unintelligible and then followed John into the living room. There they met Paul, who had made himself comfortable in the large armchair by the fireplace. His fingers drummed some beat on the armrest. He was astonished to see Georg and John enter. "Hey guys, I just opened a new bottle." He pointed to the table. "Help yourself." They did not have to be told this offer twice and quickly grabbed two glasses. After the third bottle, Georg's bad mood was suddenly blown away and they were joking around.
"Where are Tom and Michael actually?" asked John around. Georg shrugged his shoulders and took another sip from his glass.
"You are upstairs," replied Paul, "and look at you."
Tom had been walking up and down nervously for some time and smoked a number of cigarettes. Again and again he played lost in thought with his necklace. When did Michael finally come back to report to him? He could hardly bear this uncertainty anymore. Finally Michael came back and grinned at his friend. He closed the door quietly behind him.
"Everything is fine. She has bathed and ate. Now she sleeps like a baby." A satisfied smile played around Tom's lips and his eyes shone. "Do you think Michael, she could feel comfortable here?" Tom looked uncertainly at his best friend. Michael nodded. "I'm very sure of that. Somehow she radiates it." Tom went to the window, lost in thought, and looked out into the night. Doubts arose in him and gnawed at his conscience. "Do you think we did the right thing?" Tom sought Michael's gaze. Michael looked at him seriously. "Yes, we have. After all, it's all about our happiness." He pulled his sleeve gently and pushed him toward the door.
"And that it is the same, I'll prove to you now. We'll look at them." Michael led him out the hall and pushed him down the hall until they were in front of the door to their room. Tom took a deep breath. Should he really go in? Just because? Before he could pursue this thought any further, Michael had already opened the door and entered. A little unsure and shy, Tom followed him. Michael pointed to the bed. "There she is. Isn't she sleeping peacefully?" Tom stepped a little closer and Michael watched his friend's face closely. If it just looked serious and strained, it was much softer now.
The moonlight coming in through the window fell right on the bed. Her white flawless skin shimmered like snow, her dark hair fell in soft waves and framed her pretty face and her lovely red lips seemed as sweet as wine.
Tom stared down at her for a long time and deep down he was touched by something that almost made him breathe. "You are right, Michael. We did the right thing." Tom looked at his friend. "It is the epitome of sin. And no one should even dare to come too close to it." Tom turned and walked to the door. His gait was as smooth as that of a predator. And in his black clothes he looked graceful like a panther. Michael quietly closed the door and followed him downstairs. The others were joking when they suddenly entered.
John looked at Tom. "Is everything ok?" Tom took a seat on the couch, where Georg was already lying fairly wide on the pillows. He lit a cigarette and took a long drag. For seconds there was silence between the five. "I don't want any of you to come too close to Sue," said Tom suddenly urgently and glanced at Georg, who looked quite puzzled and almost choked. Nervously, he lit a cigarette and clung to his glass. A little meekly, he slid back deeper into the pillows and glanced at John. He stared at Tom. "How do you get the idea that someone could attack her?" He pushed his cowboy hat a bit higher. Tom was still sitting casually on the couch and took a sip of red wine from the glass that had served Michael shortly before. He leaned forward a little and looked at his buddy. His eyes glowed dark green. That always happened when he was very excited inside.
"Just like that, John. Sometimes life can take unexpected turns. Nothing goes as planned and you are suddenly left with nothing. And I don't want something like that to happen to me." There was silence and nobody really knew what to answer. Tom took another sip and lit another butt. He blew the blue mist into the air in little circles. Michael wanted to break the silence and suddenly got up. "Come on Georg, I'll take you to your room. You have had enough to drink for today. You are already swaying like an old sailing ship." Laughing, he grabbed his friend under the arms and almost plopped back on the couch with him. Georg let himself hang like a wet sack. "No ... I want to have another drink!" he slurred and almost threw the bottle off the table. Paul now helped Michael and together they got Georg to leave the room. John sat there for a moment before nodding to Tom and disappearing as well. Tom was left alone with himself and his thoughts. Again and again they wandered off to Sue and he saw her lying in front of him. So delicate and fragile she had looked in the moonlight. He finished his glass and stood up with determination. He wandered through the dark, silent house until he was in front of her door. An unknown force had driven him here and he had to give in to it. His head was swept empty, only this strong urge to own this woman still dominated him. He slipped nervously into the room. She was still sleeping peacefully in the large bed. Her beauty shone as brightly as if it had been carved into marble. Intended to last forever and to bring the sweetest of pleasures to a man. Her breathing was calm and regular, and her chest rose and fell as it went. Tom looked at her for a while before carefully sitting down on the edge of the bed. His fingers touched her soft hair. He leaned closer to her to take in the scent of her skin. Her scent bewitched him and quickened his pulse. His fingertip gently touched her full lips. Slowly he pulled the covers lower. He wanted to look at her body, which he had wanted by his side for a long time. He had met her many times in his dreams and now it was a reality. The herbal tea Michael had given her would make her sleep soundly and not remember anything. Tom let his gaze wander over her body, which stretched so seductively towards him. He touched her neck and then slowly slid lower. Sue lolled towards him and her lips were now slightly parted. Tom slowly lowered his lips to hers. He caressed her mouth and Sue returned his kiss. Her mouth tasted like sweet wine and he wanted more of it. He gently pushed his tongue in deeper. Sue gave a low sigh and suddenly threw her arms around his neck. She pulled Tom closer to her. Her chest rubbed against his and her fingers dug into his dark hair. He kissed her like he'd never kissed a woman before. Full of passion and desire that got his blood pumping and quickened his pulse. Slowly he slipped the straps of her nightgown over her shoulders and his lips slid over her breasts. His need for her was immense and he wanted to take her. He quickly pulled his T-shirt over his head and snuggled against her warm body. With a huge wave of passion he kidnapped Sue into the realm of sensuality. Satisfied and exhausted, Tom fell asleep in her arms.
Sue woke up from a restless sleep. She rubbed her eyes to drive away the last bit of tiredness. Sitting upright in bed, she remembered her dream, which made her face flush with shame. She had dreamed of a complete stranger. A man who had a charisma that had cast a spell over her and that she had been unable to escape. He was tall and slender with dark hair and green eyes that were as deep as a lake. These eyes fixed her and it seemed as if he could have looked right to the bottom of her soul. Sue shivered when she thought of him again. And then they loved each other passionately. Sue blushed again. It was as if she could feel his lips on her skin again, even though it had only been a dream. But the dream must have been pretty realistic, because the bed was completely rumpled. "But it was just a dream ..." Sue muttered and swung her legs out of bed. She ran towards the large closet, hoping to find something useful. And indeed there were some clothes inside. Sue decided on a long dark purple dress, which fit perfectly and made her fair skin shine even more. She pinned up her dark hair. Now she was ready to unravel the secret of this house. She quietly opened the door and listened out into the corridor. There was dead silence ...
Slowly and as quietly as possible, she crept across the hall, past endless doors. Sue didn't dare to open one of these doors, because she was afraid something dangerous might await her. After a while she reached the room in which Georg almost attacked her. Sue shook herself. Fortunately, this had been prevented. In another room there were several empty bottles and an overflowing ashtray. It seemed to have been a lot going on here. The pillows on the couch were chaotic and partly scattered around the room. Sue got braver and inspected one room after the other.
In the meantime she had also found the kitchen. There were heaps of red wine, beer and Jägermeister bottles in the refrigerator, but hardly anything else that was useful. Sue found another apple and some milk; that had to be enough for breakfast. After the snack she wanted to continue her discovery tour. She next entered a somewhat smaller room in which the windows were also covered. It was very nicely and comfortably furnished and kept in dark colors.
Her gaze fell on a painting over the couch. Sue stepped closer to get a better look. It was in a golden ornate frame and showed a young woman. Sue went a little closer and was suddenly startled. She looked into her own face ...
