Short Stories : Burning Tears (Chapter 3) |
Part 3
But that couldn't be true. The picture was of a young woman, or did it show Sue herself? But she had never stood for such a painting portrait. It just couldn't be herself. But the woman in the picture looked very similar to her. Also dark long hair, light skin and blue-green eyes. However, the picture seemed to have been taken many years ago, because the clothes the young woman was wearing came from days long past.
Sue was completely stunned for a moment and looked terrified at the picture in front of her on the wall. What did that mean? Where had she gotten into here and what were they going to do with her?
She had to sit down for a moment and take a deep breath. Her heart was pounding and all color had drained from her face. She absolutely had to find out what was being played here. At all costs ...
Sue set out to find out more about the secret of this house. One room after the other was searched, but nowhere did she find a clue that would have helped her. And what was also strange was that she found no one in this huge house. But Sue was so busy doing it that she wasn't even aware of it. Not even the fact that dusk was already falling outside.
Sue found a library. Large shelves filled with hundreds of books stood in front of her. Dusty and partly yellowed, silent witnesses of times long past. Maybe she could find out something here. Sue wandered from one shelf to the other, reading the titles of the books. Everything was represented here, from history to poetry to novels. An old book caught her eye in particular and with a slightly trembling hand she pulled it out of the shelf. She took a seat in one of the leather armchairs and began to read. There were reports of people who had lived many years ago. From their life and from their love. And how this love was broken apart by evil people and that the poor souls would have to suffer for eternity. All of this felt like a fairy tale to Sue until she got to a page with a photo. It showed exactly the man she had dreamed of last night. It looked exactly as it did in the dream and actually a lot better than she remembered it.
Sue put the book aside, speechless. How could she have dreamed of a man she had never seen before in her life? And now she found his picture in a book that she had never held in her hands before. It all struck her as very strange and she couldn't figure it out.
Lost in thought, Sue didn't notice how suddenly the door opened quietly and a figure slipped into the room. It was only when she felt a hand on her shoulder that Sue noticed that she was no longer alone.
Startled, she let out a scream and the book slipped off her knees and crashed to the floor. Her eyes were wide open in shock and she jumped up from the chair. The man who had sneaked in was only a little taller than she was and his hair was tangled up from his head. Stubble covered his face and he looked a little unkempt. However, he radiated a calm and serenity, which in turn brought Sue to recover from the shock quite quickly. The guy started to laugh uproariously and his eyes looked mischievously over at Sue. He had to hold his stomach tight with laughter. Sue looked at him blankly. What did this creepy person want from her and why was he laughing at her? Michael had calmed down a bit and took a step towards Sue. This in turn dodged further back. "Sue, you really don't need to be afraid of me. I don't mean anything bad to you." He spoke to her calmly and deliberately. "My name is Michael and I belong to this house." He held out his hand to her. At that moment Sue didn't really know what to think of it, but she carefully handed him hers. Always be prepared for the fact that he could now brutally pull her towards him. But nothing like that happened. He motioned for her to sit down again. "Michael, where am I here? And above all, why am I here? I can't understand all of this ..." Sue asked uncertainly about the reason for her visit here in this eerie house. "And who is the woman in the painting? Is that me? Why was I put in a dungeon?"
Michael sat across from her and looked over at her in silence for a moment. "Sue, I want you to calm down first. Nothing will happen to you here and nobody wants to hurt you. I want you to know that. I'm here to take care of you and to take care of you." Michael lit a cigarette because he was nervous and excited now too. But outwardly he didn't want to show anything like that. He played the serene. "You asked me a lot of questions and the reason you're here has a long history. I want to tell you about it when I get the chance. But let's talk about other things first. How was your first night here in the house?" He looked at her expectantly. Sue nodded silently and blushed again. "Thank you, I slept well. I ate well and bathed extensively. I almost suspect that I owe it all to you. Don't you?" Michael nodded. "That's what I thought. But I finally want to know why I'm here and, above all, where did my friend Karen go? Has something happened to her? Is she okay?" Sue looked worriedly at Michael and shifted nervously in her seat. Michael grinned again. "Don't worry about Karen. Really, you don't need to. She's doing very well and you'll see her again soon." He smiled blissfully. Sue looked at him thoughtfully. Hopefully he was telling the truth too. "But tell me Sue, did something strange happened to you last night?" He looked intently into her face and awaited an answer to his question. "Why? I don't know what you mean? Why should something extraordinary have happened to me?" Sue looked down at the floor in embarrassment and felt somehow caught out. Again she thought of the stranger from her dream. Her blood rushed again and she became warm. Michael felt exactly that she was trying to hide something. But he absolutely had to know whether the herbal tea he had given had worked. "Come on Sue, I can tell by the tip of your nose that you are hiding something from me?" He really wanted to know what she was thinking about. "I had a strange dream ... but I ..." embarrassed Sue tried to avoid the answer. "I don't want to talk about it. I feel uncomfortable." Her cheeks turned a deep red again. Michael laughed mischievously. "Oh, now tell me. It can't be that bad." She was still looking at the floor. Faltering, she began to tell Michael about the strange man from her dream and that she had found him again in one of the books. Michael listened attentively and then a great stone fell from his heart. The time had finally come. Had they now reached the end of their destination? He hoped so dearly. "Don't worry so much about a dream. Sometimes you just dream weird things together. Nothing to seriously worry about. And maybe you've seen this man somewhere after all. Who knows." Michael talked to Sue for a while and learned a few things from her life and about her person. They got along very well straight away and laughed heartily together. Sue had meanwhile taken a deep trust in Michael. She felt that this man didn't mean any harm to her and that they were on the same wavelength. He even took her into the kitchen and prepared something to eat for her. Finally, they drank a glass of red wine together in the living room. Suddenly John joined them. "Hello Sue. As I can see, you have met Michael by now." She nodded. "Yes, John, I have. We had a very nice chat and found a lot in common." Michael nodded in agreement. "Sue is very funny and we had a great evening together." He looked at John. "I'll take you to your room now and then I'll come back to you, John. We have something to talk about." John looked at Michael expectantly and sat down on one of the armchairs. Waiting would be more fun with a cigarette and a glass of wine. "Sue, then I wish you a good night's sleep. Dream something nice." His eyes shone mischievously as he said this. Sue thanked her and then let Michael show her to her room. The inspection of the rooms and the long conversation with Michael had made her tired and she longed for her bed. Shortly after Michael had said goodbye to her, she fell asleep soundly. Meanwhile, John had got company from Georg and the two were curiously awaiting Michael’s return. This came through the door beaming. "Guys, it is her. I'm 100% sure it is her. It can't be any other way." Excited, he took another sip of wine and lit a butt. "All the signs speak for it." John exchanged a look with Georg. This frowned. "Are you absolutely sure? We have waited so long for this moment and I don't want to be disappointed." Georg shifted a little excitedly on the chair. Should all of your waiting really be over now? He couldn't believe it. It occurred to him how he almost attacked her and he was embarrassed.
Michael nodded again. "I'm sure. Tonight I was able to talk to her for a long time and she must be the woman we have all been waiting for all these years. Besides, she has already dreamed of him and how she described everything to me, she can just be it. " John crossed his arms over his chest and leaned back. "I hope you are right Michael. It would be too good to be true." Lost in thought, he played with his long hair. "What does Tom say? Have you already told him?" Michael said no. "No, I'll do that right away. Besides, I'll try to prepare Sue for it tomorrow. I'm not sure how I'll do it, but I'll find a way." Confident Michael made his way to see his best friend. He'd be interested in the news, guaranteed.
Tom paced nervously up and down his room. He put a cigarette between his lips and took a long drag. His mind kept revolving around Sue and the last night. It had been wonderful with her and his desire was already rising again. He had loved her and it had been breathtaking. And he had sensed that she was the right woman. He couldn't have said how he knew that, but he was sure that it was. Besides, the resemblance to Samantha was almost frightening. All of these signs indicated that he had finally found her. With a slightly trembling hand, he grabbed the bottle of Jägermeister and drank from it. He needed something now to calm his nerves. Suddenly he was torn from his thoughts when Michael stood in front of him. "Where are you from? Where do you come from?" asked Tom, startled. Michael shrugged. "I knocked on your door for a long time, but you didn't seem to notice me at all." He looked at him questioningly. "You're not quite here with your thoughts, are you?" He tried to tease Tom a little. "Hear my friend, I have news for you. I spoke to Sue in detail today and was able to gain her trust." Tom raised an eyebrow critically. "And?" Michael almost fell around his friend's neck, but was able to hold back himself at the last moment. "I'm sure she's the right one!" He performed a little dance of joy in the room. Tom nodded in agreement. "Yes, I already know." Michael suddenly felt almost a little offended. He thought he would bring the best news, but Tom seemed already well informed. "How do you know that again?" He twisted the corners of his mouth a little sullenly. Tom grinned. "Don't be angry, Michael. Thank you very much for letting me know. But I have to admit that I was in your room last night. that I found the right one. "Tom grinned devilishly and the penny began to drop with Michael." You bastard, you haven't ... "asked Michael excitedly. But he saw the satisfied smile on Tom's lips, like that that he didn't need to ask any further. He started laughing. "I don't believe it ... you bastard. You have tonight ... "Now he fell around Tom's neck." Do you think we finally made it? "Tom looked thoughtfully at his friend." I don't know if we finally made it. But I pray that it is. She is so wonderful, so lovely, so lovely ... I cannot describe it at all. My heart is on fire I've never felt this way since then! "His green eyes turned dark again and he stepped to the window." Michael, you know all these years I only thought of Samantha and I would never have dared to dream that I would could feel as much for a person again. But when I saw Sue for the first time, it was already over to me. All the emotions came up again and I saw another reason why I should go on living at all. Can you understand me? "Michael nodded. Yes, he could understand his friend very well. He knew the pain they had all felt over the years and especially the pain of Tom. He was the one of them who suffered the most All these things had made him a closed person, but now he had that gleam in his eyes again, which he had had when Samantha was still at his side and they were all alive.
